Not So Thin Blue Line

It was nice to have a leisurely start to the day, although also entirely needed; I don’t know quite why but I really struggled to get to sleep last night – there was no noise or drama that I am aware of and I didn’t feel stressed in any way.  Perhaps that was actually the problem; after living in a 24/7 environment maybe the confines of the room are too peaceful and tranquil?  At any rate I eventually forced my weary carcass out of bed and hurled myself under the shower, the warm cascading water feels so soothing and is beautifully relaxing, before grasping one of the finest disposable razors I could find at the time and scraping a couple of days of laziness off my face.  There was a time when I was not averse to a little face fuzz but sadly any vague showing of “designer stubble” now makes me look old, unkempt and generally well staying away from.

I made a phone call too, to one of the local police stations that I believe is the current custodian of my worldly belongings; not much to show for 42 years of life but it is mine all the same.  I would like my things back in much the same way as I suspect the boys (and girls) in blue undoubtedly have better things to do than look after left luggage.  The person I spoke to was unsure as to whether or not that have my stuff and promised to have a check around and get back to me.  I was hoping for a more definite response but it was better than “No, we have nothing of yours and no knowledge of it.”  All I can do for now (such is the nature of weekends) is wait for a reply.  If I hear nothing by Monday I will call back.

With the time marching forever forward (although tonight slightly backward for the briefest of moments) my mind is turned towards the perennial issue of feeding myself.  I shall take a slow wander, even a lap of the shopping centre first.  Let us see what the latter portion of the day has in store for this hapless hobo…..
